A decision matrix for: hosted proprietary service + public integrations; open core + paid hosted/team features; source-available server with explicit terms. Compare adoption, trust, contribution potential, self-hosting, recurring revenue, support and future acquisition flexibility.

Research

Inspect actual repo visibility, current license obligations, dependencies, assets and contributor ownership. Determine what rights would be needed for a future licensing change or sale. Distinguish evidence from legal questions requiring specialist review.

Acceptance

• Recommend a release boundary with clear unknowns and owner decisions.
• Explain that genuine open-source licenses permit commercial use; source-available restrictions must be labelled accurately.
• Never promise retroactive withdrawal of rights already granted.
• No license or repository-visibility change in this design task.
