Task actions claim/complete/block without a mandatory version #367

Problem

item_action claim, complete, block and unblock require the item version, so every action needs a preceding item_get. In a coordinator workflow (one agent reviewing and closing many subtasks done by other agents) this doubles the calls for actions that rarely collide.

Proposal

Make version optional for task status actions: without it the action applies to the current state and the response returns the new version; with it the existing optimistic check stays. Content edits keep requiring the version.

Evidence

Hyperion Drift session 2026-09-27: roughly 15 complete/unblock calls, each preceded by an item_get only to read the version.
